Privacy policy

The short version: Breakeven Home doesn't use cookies, doesn't track you as an individual, has no accounts, and doesn't save the numbers you enter. We count visits with privacy-friendly analytics.

The numbers you enter

To calculate your results, your browser sends the details you enter (home price, interest rate, rent, and so on) to our server, which sends the results back. We don't save those details, connect them to you, or sell them.

Your inputs also appear in the page's web address, so you can bookmark or share a scenario. Anyone you send that link to will see those numbers.

Server logs

Like nearly every website, our hosting provider automatically records basic information about each request: your IP address, browser type, the time, and the address of the page requested (which can include the inputs shown in it). We use these logs only to keep the site running and secure, such as fixing errors and stopping abuse. They're deleted automatically after 30 days.

Cookies and analytics

We don't use cookies, browser storage, or advertising trackers. To understand how the site is used, we count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, a small script that records which pages are viewed, the site that linked you here, your browser and device type, your country, and how fast pages load. It doesn't use cookies, doesn't identify individual visitors, and doesn't follow you across other websites. We see only totals, such as how many people viewed each calculator.

If we ever change how we measure visits, we'll update this policy first and say exactly what it collects.

Companies that help run the site

• Google Cloud hosts the site and the calculations, and keeps the server logs described above.
• Cloudflare provides our domain name service, redirects www.breakevenhome.com to breakevenhome.com, and counts visits (see above).

They handle that information on our behalf, under their own privacy and security terms.

Selling and sharing

We don't sell or share personal information, and we don't use it for advertising.

Links to other sites

Some pages may include links to other websites, including clearly labeled sponsored offers. If you follow one, that site's own privacy policy applies.

Children

Breakeven Home isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

Your choices

Because we don't keep personal information beyond 30 days of server logs, there's usually nothing for us to look up or delete.

Changes

If we change how the site handles information, we'll update this page and the date at the top. See also our terms of use.
